I was very pleased to see this rare collection of books, which everybody should never fail to visit. Ankegowda, the worshipper of Mother Sarasvati, is really a blessed man.

All the people’s representatives of our district should proudly assist Ankegowda’s library with grants and develop it.

I have seen a lot of book-lovers. But I am flummoxed to see this bibliomaniac. His is the spotless service without any yearning for reward.

Sri Ankegowda has demonstrated by his collection of books that the wealth of knowledge is superior to all other wealth.

It is important that Sri Ankegowda’s love for books has not remained as a personal fancy but it is an attempt to preserve culture. His love of culture is really good fortune for the country.

Ankegowda’s endeavour in collecting such a large quantity of books is comparable to building a huge dam or establishing a major industry. One life is not sufficient to browse all the books of this library.

He has collected books belonging to all branches of knowledge. It seems he has unknowingly conceived a community education plan.

Ankegowda’s library is Karnataka’s pride. The government, mutts, associations/societies and the public should help for its maintenance. Then only, this enormous collection can be preserved for future.

This is a rare collection. Had extraordinary experience.

I was immensely happy to see this ocean of books. This is one of the precious moments in my life. This one-man collection of books should have a mention at international platforms. Sri Ankegowda’s love for books and culture is very valuable. He and his wife have dedicated their life to this library. I have not seen another such couple anywhere. Ankegowda has begun a new epoch in the world of books.

I have not seen such library even in the language sections of some universities. It is very useful to those who want to undertake research in Kannada, fine arts, religion and other subjects. It is indeed surprising that a single individual has built it as a divine obligation of his whole life, that too in a rural setting. It is the moral duty of the villagers, town-dwellers, and the nearby literary and cultural organizations to utilize this library properly. Money is required to classify these books and for daily maintenance of the library. Public organizations should contribute towards this purpose. Rich people like Sri Hari Khoday should come forward to help this library. I feel like coming here and staying for a few days to read the books of my choice whenever necessary.

I have seen and used the libraries of many universities as well as private individuals. Today when I saw Sri Ankegowda’s Pustaka Mane I was astonished and excited. My affection and admiration to Sri Ankegowda has been amplified. It’s a rare and mammoth collection... May he get encouragement from the government and urbane persons! Shubhamastu

Sri Ankegowda is a living example of dedication. Books have blossomed here as his ardourous penance. If accomplishment is considered a man’s benchmark, Sri Ankegowda rises as a VIP of this land. May Sri Ankegowda, the summit of achievement, be included in the Guinness Book of Records and make all of us proud!

Had I not visited Ankegowda’s treasure of knowledge, my coming to Pandavapura would have been futile. This library, built by Sri Ankegowda and Smt. Vijayalakshmi with their hard-earned money and great assiduousness, is truly amazing. I have not yet come across such colossal work anywhere else in Karnataka. There is free admittance and free service for all knowledge-thirsty researchers, writers, and book-lovers in this temple of knowledge. I hope the Government of Karnataka would come forward to sanction financial help for appointing sufficient staff for the proper maintenance of this library. It would be a big accomplishment if the Government sanctions annual grants to it. It is my heartfelt aspiration that the library will get governmental assistance soon.

Sri Ankegowda’s endeavour in building a treasure of knowledge with great efforts so that knowledge is spread among the local community is most creditable. Your effort of establishing a huge library by collecting over a lakh of books in a rural area like Haralahalli is truly praiseworthy. There is no doubt that this library will be a centre for pursuit of knowledge in the days to come.

The saga of achievement of your Pustaka Mane is well-known. Your Pustaka Mane has demonstrated that individuals can achieve anything, attain any pinnacle of performance, provided they have resolute devotion and commitment. It will be possible to extensively spread the love for books and respect for literature among people, if there is an Ankegowda in every taluk.

This visit to Ankegowda Jnana Pratishthana is one of the rewarding experiences of my life. The inspiration and dedication of Sri Ankegowda towards the world of knowledge is something extraordinary. The sheer magnitude of his undertaking is beyond estimation. This is a beautiful manifestation of the passion of one man. It will be a great pity if this splendid effort and contribution of Sri Ankegowda is not taken advantage by society. Needless to say that society cannot pardon itself, if it does not stand by this dedicated servant of knowledge.
