According to an approximate estimation, the books collected here are over two lakhs. All these volumes have not been completely classified in accordance with library science. At present, the Foundation cannot employ the necessary staff and other facilities for this job. But half of the books have been classified subject-wise. There are about 70 sections. The books have been broadly classified in the following categories: Vedas and Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, religion and philosophy, art, dance, music, moral maxims (subhashitas), dictionaries, encyclopaedias, linguistics, science, technology, medical books, histories of literature, Old Kannada literature, Jain literature, Buddhist literature, Sharana sahitya, Christian and Islamic literature, folklores, research works, doctoral theses, novels, short stories, poetry, plays, literary criticism, essays, travelogues, humour, women’s literature, children’s literature, biographies, astrology, vaastu, educational books, text-books, articles, journalism, maps; furthermore, publications of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Sahitya Akademi, Prasaranga publications of various universities, Gandhiana, works of and about Ravindranath Tagore, Aurabindo, Nehru, Ambedkar, Shakespeare, works of Nobel laureates, Jnanpith awardees, and books of Sahitya Akademi award-winners; souvenirs and commemoration volumes; all works of Kuvempu, Bendre, Karanth, Masthi, Gokak, Ananthmurthy, Karnad, Kambara, DVG, PuThiNa, Rajarathnam, CPK, Dejagow, Tejaswi, Bhyrappa, Kanavi, Shivarudrappa, Adiga, KSNa, Gowrish Kaikini, and other renowned writers have been classified and can be easily accessed.

In addition to all the works of Kuvempu, books of criticism, research of and on him and his biographies – over 650 volumes – have been comprehensively collected. There are innumerable and invaluable works on world history, economics, sociology, psychology, agriculture, sports and games, cookery et cetera – virtually books on all the branches of knowledge. About 1000 books each on Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita and Gandhian literature in various languages are found here.

Attractive books on painting and sculpture, complete paintings of Raja Ravivarma, Picasso’s paintings, illustrated volumes on flora and fauna have found a place in this exceptional library. Supplemental to the collection of books there are collections of rare stamps and coins of various countries. Eye-catching invitations and greeting cards are also stored here.

Ankegowda’s Pustaka Mane is a fine example for fructification of penance if a person’s hobby and obsession are transformed as one’s very existence.
